St. Lucia The background fabric is a beautiful batik that I wanted to highlight. Most of the leaves and flowers came from fabrics in my stash of thrift shop clothing. The grapes are circles of fabric that I fused in clusters. At first there wasn't any hummingbird, but something else was needed. I made a hummingbird with green fabrics, but it "disappeared" when I laid it on the quilt. I made a second hummingbird in pink and purple fabrics and that one worked. (The green hummingbird is still waiting to find a home.) I named the quilt "St. Lucia" because it reminded me of a beautiful arboretum that we visited on the island of St. Lucia. |
