Painted Regatta One assignment in my Painting I class was to do an abstract painting. I had the idea of doing sailboats. If I turn this piece upside down, it looks more like strange underwater creatures, or maybe something from outer space! Part way through, I gave up on using brushes, and mostly used sea sponges to apply the paint. I had put masking tape on the dry painting before I added the white areas so that I could get the clean, straight lines. It's thick with paint because I changed my mind so many times while I was working on it. |
